Sung Compline November 14

Held at 7:00 pm in the Choir Stalls, the Sung Compline service on November 14 will feature St. John’s Compline Ensemble performing William Byrd’s hauntingly beautiful anthem, Ave Verum Corpus. The musicians will also lead congregant in hymns and chants.
Compline is the last of the Daily Offices. In keeping with early practices of the monastic communities, Compline is a service lit only by candlelight held when the work of the day is finished and the quietness of evening begins to settle over the hearts and minds of those gathered in prayer.
This is a short service of ancient prayers, psalms, chanting, and mystery. Incense will be used, and the Holy Spirit will be present. All are welcome.
Compline will be held every Thursday at 7:00 pm during Advent (December 5, 12, and 19). To learn more, contact Craig Lemming at clemming@hotmail.com.
