In honor of the Feast of Saint Aelred of Rievaulx (1110-1167), patron saint of LGBTQ+ Episcopalians, St. John’s parish and neighbors are invited to this Celebration of Holy Eucharist on Sunday, January 12 at 4pm in the Church. This service will feature hymns and service music composed by LGBTQ+ composers and poets. The Rev. Mike Angell, Rector of The Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion in University City, Missouri will be our Guest Preacher. A festive reception hosted by St. John’s LGBTQ+ Spiritual Life Group will follow the service in the Fireside Room. All are welcome!
The Rev. Mike Angell is the 13th rector of The Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion, University City, Missouri. He began his tenure in March of 2015. Before accepting his current call, Mike served on the Presiding Bishop’s staff as the church-wide Missioner for Young Adult & Campus Ministries. For three years after seminary, Mike was Assistant Rector at St. John’s Church, Lafayette Square, Washington DC. At St. John’s, Mike led justice and outreach ministries, a large young adult ministry, and also served as primary priest for the Spanish-speaking congregation.
