The next series of Basics Classes will begin Sunday, February 28. “The Basics” is an eight-week faith formation series on Sundays at 12 noon in the Fireside Room. The classes give the knowledge and skills that inspire us to live a balanced spiritual life, and they offer a way for individuals to learn and grow in community. They also will help participants get to know the staff and ministries of St. John’s a little better. They are offered for all parishioners, especially those looking to refresh their knowledge on the basic categories of Christian faith, and required for parishioners marking a significant transition in the church (baptism, confirmation, reception, reaffirmation of baptism, joining St. John’s, marriage).
These classes tell the Christian story, teach how to read the Bible, and teach the basic Christian disciplines. The Basics classes are anything but “basic” and will engage both the heart and the mind so that we might, as a congregation, deepen our faith and draw closer to the One who is its source.
