On December 1st Christians around the globe begin a new Church Year and enter into the Holy Season of Advent. As we continue learning how liturgical worship shapes our faith life at St. John’s and in the world, our Faith Formation Commission invites everyone to read The Liturgy Explained by James W. Farwell during Advent. The Liturgy Explained is ideal for newcomers who have no prior knowledge of liturgical matters and is also immensely edifying for veteran worshipers in the Episcopal Church.
Copies of The Liturgy Explained will be available at the back of the Church on Sunday mornings in December for St. John’s members to take home and study. A suggested donation of $8.00 is requested to help offset the cost of this year’s Parish Advent Read. Please leave cash or checks made to the order of St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, memo line “Parish Advent Read,” in the basket next to the books, or you can make a donation via St. John’s website – select “Non-Pledged Donation” fund. For more information please email email@example.com.
