The Rector and Vestry of St. John the Evangelist are delighted to announce the arrival of the Reverend Kate Bradtmiller as Associate Rector to the staff and ministry team of the church. Kate has lived in Minnesota for the last 4 years having moved here from Massachusetts where she served as an assistant rector at St. Barnabas Episcopal in Falmouth. Since moving to Minneapolis with wife Louisa (Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies at Macalester College) Kate has served as a staff chaplain at both Fairview Southdale Hospital and (more recently) Hennepin County Medical Center. Kate attended seminary at Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts and received her undergraduate education at Wellesley College. Kate’s first Sunday with us will be September 8th and will be taking a maternity leave shortly thereafter (she is expecting twins in late October). Despite the interruption to her work the search committee and rector are very confident that Kate is the perfect fit for the job description and worth the wait. Plans are being made for part-time coverage of her duties during that leave and more news will be out soon. Kate will have direct responsibility for developing Pastoral Care teams and pastoral tracking, new member ministry, Spiritual and Community Life groups, and liaising with the Faith-in-Action ministries. In addition to her warmth and friendly personality, Kate’s administrative talents and leadership abilities will be the perfect addition to our growing ministry team. Please help us welcome Kate and her family to St. John’s.
