Dear Friends in Christ,
This past week was a full one at St.John’s. We kicked things off Saturday evening with our annual Christmas Party complete with delicious food and carols sung round the glow of our very own tannenbaum, and then Sunday we celebrated yet another St. John’stradition with our children and youth retelling the story of the Nativity of Jesus in the Christmas pageant. Both were a first for the Weber-Johnson family, and I would like to report back that both lived up to their billing. Sunday afternoon a handful of St. John’s folks ventured across town to Holy Apostles to help them ring in the Hmong New Year with a banquet and song and traditional dancing and games. I left with a new appreciation for chartreuse and florescent pink and with a pocket full of hardboiled eggs – wondering why? Come to next year’s celebration to find out. Then, Sunday evening I attended the feast of Guadalupe at mission church of Santo Nino Jesusand the installation of their vicar, the Reverend Nephtali Rodriguez. Our very own Keely Franke assisted in the service as chaplain to the bishop, and the service concluded with a spectacular presentation of traditional Aztec dancing. Finally, Wednesday evening was our annual hanging of the greens – a work party of sorts where we all left with sap in our shirts and the smell of evergreen in our noses – come Sunday to admire the work.

A reminder about Stewardship:
Currently St. John’s is approximately $45,000 short of our projected 2012 pledge goal of $520,000. In order to pass a balanced budget without making cuts, we need to meet and exceed our goal. If you have not contactedSt. John’s to make a pledge this year, we encourage you to do so in the coming week. We need your pledge to do the ministry God has called us to in this time and through this community.
Thank you for your support, and may you continue to have a blessed Advent!
